Death Bells

I don’t need to hold your heart

to feel it loves me

from a meter distance

I can sense your tenderness

when you have any time left

for us

please spend your last night with me

let’s forget about statistics

the sterile side of numbers

wash of the shamelessness

the pain

every two o clock in the afternoon

when we hear the death bells ring

lay your head in my lap

we will be endless

masters of the sky

beyond any virus

for who knows how far a sick bird can still fly....

and how underlying suffering

can have strong and proud wings

new and challenging possibilities

as there is no end to infinity

dreams and aspirations

and may it be no more than a day

another sleepless night

or as long as a nightmare lasts

lets not be scared

let us live

let us love.

I Died Several Times In My Life, However Never Before

In Your Arms.

The house is not so happy today

it is surrounded by shadows

and the roof is slightly falling off

only in the middle of the night

when the moon is talking

in a low voice

like a shy angel

and demons are silent

like stray spirits

deaf and blind

you catch me before I fall

break through the walls

with a shimmer of light.

The Sound Of Boiling Water

after midnight

reminds me

there is still life

and I was going to make myself a cup of tea.

There always comes this moment

like waves

and a desert of emptiness

in which the body

sinks into a deep void

stops asking for food

dehydrates

has a lack of any hunger

for what so ever at all

only tears

leaving salt on the soul

and the bitterness of a goodbye

that should not be

took place much too soon

like the death of a child

like the death of a man in the bloom of his life.

MARIAN EIKELHOF

MARIAN EIKELHOF was born in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, in the year 1963. She is a poet who works in her daily life as a psychologist. Her work inspires her to write about the emotional aspects of life. Not only she describes in several languages about feelings of love, intimacy and desire, but also she reflects about states of profound sadness and feelings of emptiness. On the whole she criticizes dehumanisation and an ongoing process of alienation in human relationships. Marian’s poetry book “ a zero hour contract with life” has been translated from Dutch into English and Turkish. For children who are being bullied, she has written the book “Lekker Boeiend!” (“I am not impressed!”) and together with her sister Els Eikelhof she has written the manual “Feel Okay about Yourself” for teachers guiding children with a disability. Her poems have been published by several prestigious magazines and appear in a number of anthologies. Recently Marian has started the Foundation Literary International in which the aim is to facilitate intercultural exchange between countries by introducing each other to each other's different artistic expressions. By internationally joining artistic forces the peace process is promoted in the world building symbolic bridges and forming a network of intellectuals andartists who aim to defend humanity.
