Maria Miraglia

Life

I feel you slipping away

when stars turn on

up there

The birds are silent

asleep the fields

and still is the sea

I think in the silence

I can hear her footsteps

and slow the fear

of the eternal night and

the unknown

takes up space

until sleep comes and

then the morning

It’s at dawn

With the first colors

Of the news coming day

that rekindles the meaning of things and

I go back to feeling life again

with its perfumes

Its flavors

the ancient rhythms of things

The Celestial Body

How many people

makes the moon dream and

and fall in love

making them hover

as melodious birds

disclose in her light

their hearts as roses in May and

dampened their eyes

tell of burning passions

whispering their lips promises

to keep preciously engraved

to listen to them then

again, and again

Once faded the darkness and

dawn slowly rising

to spread the light

over the still sleeping towns

the moon nothing else than

a celestial body in the void space

dark its surface

its mantle a crust

of solid iron its inner core

There from billion years

surrounded by flickering maids

unsuspected deceiving men

from anywhere and of all ages

By Maria Miraglia-

At Night

At night

In the silence

I can hear the voice of my soul

words that come from afar

tell of me my joys and pains

my tears and laughters

I can perceive of me

things unknown

analyze them and

become the critic of my actions

sometimes to absolve

some others to reprove me

so better understand my emotions

and learn to seize them from their roots

wondering about what I'm doing

of me

of my Self

almost finding hard to recognizing it

I can meet the child in me

with his fears and uncertainties

and cuddle him

until the sleep comes

and then the awakening

when uncalled

the first light of dawn

through the half-open shutters

invade my room

Risen my consciousness from the depth

reached the inside travel its stop

I realize that my soul

is where I can more clearly

find myself
