Ranjana Sharan Sinha

Ghazal- 13

Fossilized footprints on the heart like Meenakari art, I wonder!

The webs of quiet moments reach the corridors of midnight, I wonder!

The anaesthesia of love, the fond illusion and the surreal moon--

Weave a silver metallic dream, give delight and depart, I wonder!

Soft, nocturnal breaths of night- blooming jasmine fill the cool air with scent,

The drifting waterlilies open their red cups at last, I wonder!

Anthems of spring and the magic echo in the stillness of midnight,

Some ragged bushes cry for crimson petals standing apart, I wonder!

Some thoughts travel on the winding roads of mind-- I feel the night within:

Ranjana, beauty is a transient flame willing to dart, I wonder!

Ghazal-14

Some tribes in a dark midnight-- unnamed children of misery.

With a dim lachrymose moon in the domain of misery.

The rickshaw puller after pedalling for so many hours,

Sleeps on the pavement amid a caravan of misery.

The night with a thousand hideous faces mocks and conspires,

The man with a wretched life on a mountain of misery!

Darkness, traffic bleats, mosquitoes-- define the midnight moments,

Dreams can never grow on the rocky terrain of misery,

Forlorn hours, Ranjana, heavy with home reminiscences,

Spectres of unrest are constant companions of misery!

Ghazal-15

A nocturnal tryst of the sky with an argent white beauty in midnight--

A carve-out of melted platinum, an effulgent glory in midnight.

The amazon of love meanders-- verdant rainforests in pounding hearts,

No stars, no clouds, let time stop amid breaths and whispers husky, in midmight!

The river mingles with the ocean, the blue mountains kiss the floating clouds,

The wind hugs the heaving bosom of the sea-- a mystery in midnight!

Love and friendship in an ever-changing world are nothing but fragile drops

On the flowers of passion that morph into tears salty at midnight.

The drizzle and the downpour of love, Ranjana, or the fire and the burn?

An illogical logic or a magic with dreams rosy in midnight?
